NBA: "Phew, I'm finally going to be able to play again," Wembanyama has received the green light to resume basketball

He's coming back soon!Victor Wembanyama , sidelined since February with a venous thrombosis in his right shoulder, has received the green light from San Antonio Spurs doctors to return to basketball, he said in an interview with L'Équipe newspaper on Monday .
"I'm officially cleared to resume ( team training ). I got the go-ahead from the Spurs' medical staff ( on Friday ). Phew, I'll finally be able to play a little basketball again! My injury was an adventure, obviously, but the hardest part is over. I'm much better today, physically and mentally," said the Frenchman.
The 2.24m player says he is "on track" with his recovery program. "We can now say that this thrombosis is officially behind me. Normally, it won't happen again," he assures.
Wembanyama added that he will have to "continue specific work for ( his shoulder ) and above all resume everything related to ( his ) basketball habits." "It's been five months since I've played a 5-on-5 game. If I had to play a game tomorrow, it would be risky," said the Frenchman, who has withdrawn from the next Euro with the Blues (from August 27 to September 14).
"I would have really liked my rehabilitation to go faster. But without certainty, I couldn't participate in the Euro," he explains.
The 21-year-old Olympic runner-up ended his NBA season in mid-February after being diagnosed with venous thrombosis in his right shoulder.
His French fans will perhaps have the opportunity to attend a basketball tournament that he will organize in Chesnay, in his hometown of Yvelines, on July 20.
